The Siblingship Informational DNA Test (Non-Legal) helps determine if two individuals are full siblings, half siblings, or unrelated by comparing DNA samples. This test is not valid for legal purposes but provides accurate personal insights. Adding a known parent can improve the accuracy of the results.
How is this test performed?
The process is straightforward. DNA is collected using soft cheek swabs from the participating siblings, and optionally, a known biological parent. Including a known parent, like the mother, is highly recommended to improve the conclusiveness of the test, especially when determining if siblings share the same father. If the mother is tested, her DNA will be compared with her children’s, leaving the remaining DNA to match the father(s). Our standard test includes two siblings and one known parent; additional participants may incur extra fees.
Why might I have this test done?
This test is perfect for those who want to determine the likelihood that two individuals are full siblings, half siblings, or unrelated. It provides peace of mind by delivering accurate results for personal knowledge, but it is not valid for legal purposes. If you need the results for any legal reason, consider our Siblingship Legal Test.
How are the results reported?
The test results are shown through a siblingship index. If the index is greater than 1.00, it suggests that the individuals are more likely to be biological relatives. The higher the value, the stronger the likelihood of biological relationship. An index below 1.00 suggests the individuals are less likely to be biologically related.

If I have questions about my Siblingship Test results, who should I contact?
